As Chris Cooke announces his retirement from professional cricket, we’re celebrating a relationship that has grown alongside his career at Glamorgan Cricket.
For more than a decade, Chris has been a familiar face not only at Sophia Gardens, but across the Dragon Group. From sponsorship and campaigns to magazine covers, events and his testimonial year, we’ve been proud to support Chris both on and off the field.
A Decade with the Dragon Group
Our relationship with Chris has always gone beyond traditional sponsorship.
Over the years, he has featured across Dragon Group campaigns and content, representing a partnership built around our shared connection to Welsh sport and the communities around it.
Chris has also been a prominent part of Sportin Wales, appearing on the front cover of the magazine and featuring across editorial and content celebrating both his career and Glamorgan Cricket.
At the same time, our long-standing relationship with Glamorgan Cricket has allowed us to support the club through branding, media and campaigns surrounding some of the biggest moments at Sophia Gardens.
Celebrating a Testimonial Year
One of the biggest moments in our partnership came in 2024, when the Dragon Group supported Chris throughout his Testimonial Year.
As well as backing the year, we funded and ran Chris Cooke’s Testimonial Dinner, bringing together friends, teammates, partners and supporters to celebrate his career while raising money for causes including the NSPCC and the Professional Cricketers’ Association Trust.
It was a fitting celebration of someone we had already worked alongside for many years and a chance to help make his testimonial year one to remember.
Supporting Welsh Sport
Chris’s relationship with the Dragon Group represents something much bigger for us.
Welsh sport has always been an important part of who we are. Through partnerships, media, events, Out of Home campaigns and transforming sporting venues, we’re proud to use the strength of the Group to support the people, clubs and organisations at the heart of sport in Wales.
Chris has been a big part of that story.
Rhys Harrington, Managing Director of the Dragon Group, said:
“We’ve been incredibly proud to support Chris over the years, both throughout his career with Glamorgan and personally through his testimonial year. Over that time, Chris has become a good friend of the Dragon Group and someone we’ve always enjoyed working with. He’s had a fantastic career and has given so much to Glamorgan and Welsh cricket. We wish him nothing but the very best for retirement and whatever comes next.”
Chris Cooke said:
“The Dragon Group has been a big part of my journey with Glamorgan over the years, and I’ve been lucky to build a genuine friendship with Rhys and the wider team along the way. Their support, particularly throughout my testimonial year, meant a huge amount to me and my family. From the events and fundraising to the campaigns and everything behind the scenes, they’ve always gone above and beyond. I’m incredibly grateful for their support over the years and look forward to continuing the relationship long after my playing days”
Retirement may mark the end of his playing career, but we hope it certainly won’t mark the end of his relationship with us.
From everyone across the Group, congratulations on an incredible career, Chris.
Here’s to whatever comes next.
